Commodore

Welcome to becoming Commodore! It can be a little stressful at times, but totally worth it :) You'll get out just as much as you put in. You'll have a surprisingly large amount of "free time" if you only stick the the absolutely mandatory Commodore tasks (getting insurance, membership stats, and handling donations). However, this will not improve the club in any way, so think about some major projects that you want to accomplish and then set out to do them! For example, I decided we needed a new Day Sailing Handbook and Brochure this in 2010.

A lot of people will listen to you and respect you, and some people will not. Sometimes they'll send you emails that "you're doing it all wrong." and/or the more harsh "you're ruining the club". If you believe in what you are doing, and other student members do as well, then just ignore them. You are the Commodore, after all. You were elected based on your integrity, and don't let negative people get you down.
