This process usually gets taken care of by the Purser and/or person tasked with selling the boat but here is the basic process so that you know with the example of selling an old whaler and its trailer: I helped negotiate the sale of the old 13' whaler (VIN 3B5258, Registration No WN89AW) and the trailer it was on along with an old outboard this weekend. Have we signed over the titles and registration(s) (does the trailer have a current registration) to the new owner yet? Â This needs to be done by an officer of the corporation within 5 days of the sale. Â You can report the sale of the trailer online at https://fortress.wa.gov/dol/rosprod/. Â The sale of the vessel needs to be done on paper, either with the form attached to the certificate of title or with the form available here from http://www.dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistration/reportsaleboat.html. What are the trailer's VIN and license plate numbers? Â Is it currently registered? Â Do we have the plate for it? Â Can we find the title for it? How exactly we proceed will depend on what was or will be negotiated with the buyer and the answers to these questions. Goran keeps an inventory, so please let him know the HIN and registration for the whaler, the VIN and plate no. for the trailer, and the serial number of the motor. What should I do with the money? Â Is there a form I can attach it to and submit it? Is there a specific budget it should go into? No budget involved here. Budgets are for expenses. Â Per the bylaws at X.J.4(a)(ii), the proceeds from the sale of assets are credited to the new boat fund. Â If you'd like to give us the name of the buyer, the amount, sale date, the payment method, and, if applicable, the check number, either Ken, Laura, or I can make the appropriate entry in Quickbooks. |
