Here is an attempt to describe how the site is currently built and connected Dreamhost.com This account is owned by Matt MacAdam though you as the webmaster manage and for the most part have free reign of this account The domain washingtonyachtclub.org redirects to the Google Servers according to the google guidelines for redirecting to google sites (ie, not directly at www google site address) This is where the database is hosted which the club uses to store its members list and lessons Several subdomains have been created to allow access to portions of the server from the live site.  Each of these subdomains point to different folders within the public_html folder on the dreamhost server database.washingtonyachtclub.org library.washingtonyachtclub.org gadgets.washingtonyachtclub.org Google Apps This account is owned and managed by the Commodore, the Program Director, and the Webmaster There are several google sites associated with this account www (the live site) old (the old site) Positionholder Handbook (this site) Several others used by members of the club There are several subdomain mappings that allow mapping from a google site to a subdomain of washingtonyachtclub.org www.washingtonyachtclub.org -> sites.google.com/a/washingtonyachtclub.org/www old.washingtonyachtclub.org -> sites.google.com/a/washingtonyachtclub.org/old The naked domain (http://washingtonyachtclub.org) is configured here to redirect to the www subdomain mapping (http://www.washington.org) Google analytics are currently set up for the live site Google Webmaster Tools are set up to optimize google searches for the club site.
