Welcome to the Vice Commodore's Site. This online operations manualshould provide you with approximately 50% of the guidance you'll needto fulfill your position responsibilities. The other 50% comes fromingenuity and experience.

As the Vice Commodore your primary goal is to retain members and encourage their involvement through:

• Spearcatching: If something goes wrong, it is your fault. Get used to it.
  
• Sailing Opportunities: Investing in new and existing members by using club resources to provide them with opportunities to become better sailors.
• Instructor Coordination: Overseeing the coordination of instructors with lessons.
• Instructor Recruitment, Training, and Support:Identifying potential instructors, overseeing their introduction andtraining to teaching, and providing the support necessary forinstructors to fulfill their teaching responsibilities.
  
• Other Recruiting: Referring enthusiastic members who are interested in holding non-instruction related positions to the Commodore.
• Potential Officers: Identifying and encouraging potential Vice Commodores to run for the position. (maybe not)
  
• VC Handbook and Resources: Maintain and update this handbook and other resources for the Vice Commodore position.
  

You also work closely with the Commodore, Program Director, Publicity Chair, Instructors and Chiefs.

Dueto the small nature of our club and high turnover of its officers, youmay find yourself fulfilling the duties of other positions. Forexample, if the Commodore is unwilling or unable to recruit for otherpositions, then you ought to fill that role.
