The first thing you'll do is renew our insurance. Our insurance expireson November 23rd every year. However, it takes about 1.5 months to getall the paperwork aligned for renewal, so you'll want to start theprocess in October. Remember: even though there's help available with this task, ultimately it is the Commodore's responsibility to see it through. As of 2010, your best friend throughout this whole process will be Matt MacAdam (mail@mattjm.com). He can answer any questions you have and will guide you through the process. We work with Scott Roher (scottr@rhins.com),who negotiates our policy with Ace Insurance. He tries to get us thebest deal, and makes sure our paperwork is in order. You'll have to beproactive about getting our insurance in order. Scott has otherclients, and you'll have to stay on top of things to make sure theymove along. Matt MacAdam will come to your meetings with Scott and generally guide you through the process with him. For our renewal, we need to send Scott (so he cansend it to ACE) a complete list of all of our stuff-- known as an"Inventory Schedule". Goran Z. (goran46@comcast.net) keepsan updated list of this. It includes the boat, a description, and areplacement value. The previous year's form (for your reference) can be found below as attached file. Please attach your year's vessel schedule below for the Commodore after you! Scott also needs our "gross receipts from dues." This is the amount ofmoney we made over the year from dues. The information can be found byrunning a QuickBooks Report--ask our Purser for help. Ace Insurance will then mail us a bill (or two, sometimes it is dividedinto "Marine" and shore-side "General Liability). It takes ACE about amonth or two to mail the bill, but we are still covered during thattime since the policy is "held covered." |
