Residence Hall Posting
Registered Student Organizations can post fliers in the residence halls, as long as they are dropped off at the front desk of each residence hall you wish to post fliers in. See below for a list of how many fliers are allowed per hall and each front desk phone number:
- Haggett Hall (206-543-7164): 2 total flyers for non-UW affiliated, 18 total flyers for UW affiliated
- Hansee and McCarty Halls (must drop off at McCarty front desk – 206-543-5527): 2 total flyers for non-UW affiliated, 25 total flyers for UW affiliated
- Lander Hall (includes Terry Hall, Mercer Hall and Stevens Court - 206-543-0235): 8 total flyers for non-UW affiliated, 41 total flyers for UW affiliated
- McMahon Hall (206-543-7107): Regardless of affiliation, 22 total flyer
Note: In 2011, all dorms would only allow 1 flyer of each type (Dawg Daze and BoTL), not the # listed above and we wasted a bunch of flyers. Â It would be good to call the above dorms and new dorms to see if the above numbers still hold or if they can truly only take 1 flyer per dorm as we experienced in 2011.
Flyer file
The flyer was made in Illustrator by Mike Klaczynski, Mike O'Leary, and Andrew Cheung. There might be an updated version floating around that automatically updates the BOTL date on all the little tags at the bottom, if not Andrew C can make one.
There is also a copy of the file on the computers in the Resource Center under "WYC." Some possible things for it to say are "Learn. Play. Get wet." or "Learn how. Meet Friends. Relax. Go Fast." Make sure any dates are updated (like for Boat on the Bricks or Dawg Daze).Â
Illustrator is a little more difficult to use than other software packages, but once you know how to work with it, it's great. If you find the current flyer to be inadequate or just not your thing, but you don't have a background in design, be sure to check out Robin Williams' (not the comedian) books on publication layout and graphic design.
Lastly, try not to advertise "unlimited lessons". It's true that we don't stop people from signing up for as many lessons as they want, but we're always lacking in instructors and space in lessons. It also creates a lot of work for instructors and VCs because they need to audit for overlaps in signups.
