Webmaster

The first thing you should know about being a webmaster for the club is that the website and the technologies beneath it have gone through several different iterations over the last 10 years and more.  The same can be said about the people that have been managing the technologies so at this point the architecture is a bit scattered and someone outdated.

As an attempt to make your life easier than mine was when I took on the role of webmaster I have put together this set of pages to give you some info about the site's history, current architecture, and intended direction.  Your welcome.

Your role as the webmaster can be essentially whatever you feel you have time to commit to.  Here are some responsibilities that typically fall within the webmaster's domain (pun intended)
  • Maintenance of the site architecture
    • domain management
    • google site settings
    • google optimization
  • Content updates as necessary
    • look and feel updates
    • text changes
    • adding of new pages
    • redesign of existing pages
  • User management
    • site editing permissions settings
    • updates to club related email addresses (program manager does this too)
  • Projects extending the functionality of the site
    • adding of gadgets
    • database interface updates
    • whatever else
