Positionholders

A positionholder is any member who holds a position:
  • Chiefs
  • Instructors
  • Committee Chairs
  • Fleet Captains
  • Officers

New Positionholders
Thereare certain procedures for bringing new positionholders on board. Thereis a common set of procedures for both paid and unpaid positionholders,and special procedures that must be followed for paid positionholders.

Some things positionholders might need:
  • Fill out a dues exempt card.
  • Get access to a washingtonyachtclub.org email address (or have one created for them).
  • Be subscribed to all the email lists.
  • Be given posting privileges to wyc_info
  • Have information altered on the website (e.g. office hours, supervised sailing hours).
  • Have their status updated in the database -  Go to their database entry and under "Positions Held" in the database, click "edit" and add their position.
Paid positionholders
Paid positions (e.g. Ratings Examiner, Purser, Program Director, Quartermaster) must:
  1. Fill out a W-4.
  2. Fill out an I-9.
  3. Establish a timesheet submission and pay schedule with the Commodore and Purser.

Leaving Positionholders
  • Update the Website
  • Remove their Position from the database. Go to their database entry and under "Positions Held" in the database, click "edit" and delete their position. When someone is listed with a position,the database gives them certain access privileges so the only way forus to "remove" those privileges is to delete the position.
  • Advertise the opening!
